Yesterday, a green revolution was born on Twitter. No, wait — make that a #freen revolution.
DerekMarkham: RT @sheagunther All the cool kids are replacing ‘green’ with ‘freen’. We’re sick of green this and green that. #Freen is the new hotness
No, they’re not actually sick of green, just as Fuck Being Green isn’t an anti-green terrorist organization. But what we are all sick of is the misuse of the word “green” by the media, the government, corporate America and most of society. They throw it around like it’s the hot topic of the week. Wake up, folks. You’re going to have to be responsible with the environment you live in until the day you die, or else the planet will implode into itself and that’ll just be that.
It’s not about oil and ozone and pandas and polar caps. It’s not about anything specific at all. It’s about just being responsible in general, in ways that make sense to you. And, above all, it’s a way of life. It’s not a “thing” to be labled. It’s just what you do. You are freen.
sheagunther: @activekidsclub #Freen is full of meaning while having none. It is the beginning and the end, light and dark, and it makes me laugh lots. :D
cambrosio: @TwilightEarth: Fully Green, Forest Green, Full-On Green, clean, lean, mean, #Freen Machine. Freen is a lifestyle, not a thing.
It’s really time we move beyond the pimpification of green. It’s not a marketing tool. It’s not a platform. It’s simply what we should all being doing. There should be an inate something inside you that just is green freen. And Fuck Being Green will try it’s best to make that as easy as possible, taking the eco-friendly conversation away from a place of political/corporate/celebrity bullshit and making it about you, your life, your hobbies and, most of all, things that you can feasibly fit into your life in ways that are meaningful to you.
Fuck being green. Be freen.
Check out those on the front lines of the #Freen Revolution.
