Fuck Being Green

Fuck being "green." But yes! to easy, realistic solutions that fit my busy ADD life.

Being green is great and all, but there's no way in hell you're going to stop global warming, fight the oil mafia and save the whales all at the same time. It's about time we redefine what being green means. For ourselves and on our own, easy, not-trying-to-be-the-next-Al-Gore terms. Rock.

Not sure if it’s feasible, but it’s a cool thought. But maybe there’s something that makes more sense? Like maybe a water-proof shoe covering of some sort? We don’t know. But if you do, leave an idea in the comment section or send to f.beinggree@gmail.com

Freen Tip of the Day: Put an Electronic Pep in Your Step

Power Generating Shoe - More DIY How To Projects

We’re almost baffled at how easy and accessible this idea is. Basically, you can take an old rechargeable flashlight, stick it in your shoe and you’ll effortlessly generate enough electricity to power most personal electronics. Camping and, no, you can’t hear me now and you’re worlds away from civilization? No sweat! Power up your phone from your shoe.

Have any ideas that are just as inventive and crazy simple? Leave ‘em in the comments or send them to f.beinggreen@gmail.com and we’ll post ‘em. You’ll be a freen celebrity. Do it.

@ryantaylor There is very little logic or reason to #Freen, it is better to just take it as a matter of faith, praise his Noodly Appendage. @sheagunther

Freen — The Post-Green Revolution

Yesterday, a green revolution was born on Twitter. No, wait — make that a #freen revolution.

DerekMarkham: RT @sheagunther All the cool kids are replacing ‘green’ with ‘freen’. We’re sick of green this and green that. #Freen is the new hotness

No, they’re not actually sick of green, just as Fuck Being Green isn’t an anti-green terrorist organization. But what we are all sick of is the misuse of the word “green” by the media, the government, corporate America and most of society. They throw it around like it’s the hot topic of the week. Wake up, folks. You’re going to have to be responsible with the environment you live in until the day you die, or else the planet will implode into itself and that’ll just be that.

It’s not about oil and ozone and pandas and polar caps. It’s not about anything specific at all. It’s about just being responsible in general, in ways that make sense to you. And, above all, it’s a way of life. It’s not a “thing” to be labled. It’s just what you do. You are freen.

sheagunther: @activekidsclub #Freen is full of meaning while having none. It is the beginning and the end, light and dark, and it makes me laugh lots. :D

cambrosio: @TwilightEarth: Fully Green, Forest Green, Full-On Green, clean, lean, mean, #Freen Machine. Freen is a lifestyle, not a thing.

It’s really time we move beyond the pimpification of green. It’s not a marketing tool. It’s not a platform. It’s simply what we should all being doing. There should be an inate something inside you that just is green freen. And Fuck Being Green will try it’s best to make that as easy as possible, taking the eco-friendly conversation away from a place of political/corporate/celebrity bullshit and making it about you, your life, your hobbies and, most of all, things that you can feasibly fit into your life in ways that are meaningful to you.

Fuck being green. Be freen.

Check out those on the front lines of the #Freen Revolution.

Urbanista Green is a cool site for urban green-o-philes. Skews female, but rad nonetheless.

Win Prizes (like a Prius) for Being Green the Lazy Way

This is probably the coolest, most sensible green giveaway / contest thingie we’ve seen.

Jet Blue’s Pledge To Do One Thing That’s Green giveaway asks normal people to do just one normal thing that’s green. No stupid pour-your-heart-out-to-the-polar-bears videos. No magical ozone sewing kits. No inconveniencing here (unless you wanna be overzealous, then go ahead). Just pledge to do one simple thing, click a button and that’s it — you could win one of these actually not-too-shabby prizes, including a new Prius, really expensive energy-saving appliances or… a scandalous vacay to the Bahamas? Whatever, just nod your head and roll with it.
